Tata Curvv EV Series X vs Hyundai Creta EV: Mid-size EVs compared
Tata Motors has just launched the new Tata Curvv EV Series X electric coupe SUV in the Indian market. This new range has been expanded with m new variants aimed at increasing the model’s appeal in the long-range electric SUV segment. The update seeks to balance affordability with capability, offering a larger battery pack and improved driving range without a significant price increase. Price, variants
The new Tata Curvv EV series X is offered in three variants - Accomplished X priced at Rs 16.99 lakh, Empowered X priced at Rs 19.19 lakh and Empowered X Dark Edition priced at Rs 19.49 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). The Hyundai Creta electric is offered in eight variants - Executive, Executive Tech, Executive (O), Smart, Smart (O), Premium, Excellence and Excellence Knight edition priced between Rs 18.02 lakh and Rs 24.70 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). The Hyundai Creta Electric starts at Rs 1.03 lakh, higher than the Tata Curvv EV, while its top variant is Rs 5.21 lakh more expensive.
Battery, range
The Curvv EV Series X is offered with a single 55 kWh battery pack paired with a single PMSM electric motor with 167 hp power and 215 nm torque. It has claimed a MIDC range of 502 km, using a 7.2kW AC charger, charging from 10 to 100 per cent takes 7.6 hours, while a DC fast charger can charge the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in 40 minutes.
The Hyundai Creta Electric will be offered with two battery options - 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh packs with an ARAI-rated range of 390 km and 473 km, respectively. The battery pack comes paired with a single electric motor, which puts out 135 PS with the smaller battery pack and 171 PS with the larger 51.4 kWh battery pack. Using a DC fast charger, the EV can go from 10% to 80% charge in 58 minutes. An 11 kW AC home charger requires 4 hours to fully recharge the battery from 10% to 100%.
