This Electric SUV Accelerates Like the Wind and Delivers 630 km Range on a Single Charge

Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the new-generation GLB, and this time the luxury compact SUV is going fully electric first. The company has confirmed that the new GLB will initially be launched as a pure electric model, while hybrid versions will follow later. The new GLB will be offered in both 5-seater and 7-seater layouts and will eventually replace the older EQB

At launch, the SUV will be available with two electric variants, both offering impressive performance and long driving range.

Mercedes-Benz GLB 250+: Up to 630 km Range

The entry-level electric version is the GLB 250+, which comes with a rear-mounted electric motor using EQ technology.

  • Power output: 268 hp

  • Torque: 334 Nm

  • Battery pack: 85 kWh lithium-ion

  • Electrical architecture: 800-volt system

  • 0–100 km/h acceleration: 7.4 seconds

  • Claimed driving range: Up to 630 km on a single charge

This makes the GLB 250+ one of the longest-range electric SUVs in its category.

Mercedes-Benz GLB 350 4Matic: More Power, AWD & Towing Capability

Positioned above it is the GLB 350 4Matic, which adds an additional front-mounted motor, giving it all-wheel-drive capability.

Performance figures:

  • Total power output: 349 hp

  • Peak torque: 515 Nm

  • 0–100 km/h acceleration: 5.5 seconds

  • Driving range: Around 614 km

  • Battery: Same 85 kWh pack

  • Towing capacity: Up to 2 tonnes

This variant is aimed at buyers looking for sportier performance and enhanced capability.

Ultra-Fast Charging Support

Both electric variants support ultra-fast DC charging up to 320 kW

. With this, the battery can gain up to 260 km of range in just 10 minutes, making long-distance travel far more convenient.

Mercedes has also confirmed that:

  • A more affordable electric variant will join the lineup next year

  • Hybrid versions with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a 1.5-litre petrol engine will be introduced later

  • These hybrids will be available with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options

High-Tech Cabin and Advanced Features

The new GLB comes loaded with advanced technology and luxury features. The optional Superscreen setup includes:

  • 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster

  • 14-inch central infotainment display

  • 14-inch passenger display

It also features the latest fourth-generation MBUX system

with an AI-powered virtual assistant for advanced voice interaction.

Thanks to a 60 mm longer wheelbase, the new GLB offers more cabin space than the outgoing GLB and EQB. Buyers get:

  • Optional 7-seat configuration

  • Sliding second-row bench

  • Support for up to five child seats

  • Boot space (7-seater with third row folded): 480 litres

Price & India Launch Update

In Germany, prices for the new electric GLB start at:

  • €59,048 (approx. ₹61 lakh) for GLB 250+

  • €62,178 (approx. ₹65 lakh) for GLB 350 4Matic

As of now, Mercedes-Benz has not announced the India launch timeline

for the new GLB. Currently, the company sells the older EQB in India at around ₹72 lakh (ex-showroom).
