TVS to Enter Budget EV Segment with New Launch This Festive Season

TVS Motor Company is keeping the throttle wide open in 2025. After grabbing headlines with its upcoming 300cc adventure bike and the anticipated Norton revival, the brand is now prepping an entry-level electric two-wheeler that could hit the roads just in time for the festive season.

This new electric vehicle (EV) will slot below the popular TVS iQube, offering a more affordable option for budget-conscious buyers. Expected to be either a lightweight scooter or a moped, it will feature a simpler design, smaller battery, and limited features-perfect for everyday commutes.

Power is likely to come from a hub-mounted motor, similar to the iQube, but with reduced torque and battery capacity to keep costs low. The expected ex-showroom price? Under ₹1 lakh.

While the name is still under wraps, there's speculation it might wear the "Jupiter EV" badge-leveraging the strong brand recall of TVS's best-selling scooter. Interestingly, TVS is also working on a CNG variant of the Jupiter. If the electric version joins the family, it could make Jupiter the first scooter available in petrol, CNG, and electric formats.

There's also a chance that the upcoming EV might take the form of a moped, possibly reviving the E-XL nameplate. With the only notable electric moped currently being the Kinetic E-Luna-an underwhelming performer-a practical and efficient E-XL-style moped could strike the right chord with urban users.
