Volkswagen Revises Car Prices in India: Taigun Gets a Big Cut, Virtus Sees Hikes

Volkswagen has reshuffled the prices of its cars in the Indian market, bringing a mix of good and not-so-good news for buyers. While one popular SUV has become more affordable, several sedan variants now cost more. If you’re planning to bring home a Volkswagen soon, here’s a clear look at what has changed.

Volkswagen Taigun: Base Variant Becomes Cheaper

The biggest relief comes for Taigun buyers. Volkswagen has slashed the price of the base Comfortline variant by ₹84,000, making it available at ₹10.58 lakh (ex-showroom). This move makes the entry-level Taigun far more attractive. However, the rest of the Taigun lineup hasn’t escaped a revision, as all other variants now cost ₹4,000 more than before.

Volkswagen Virtus: Prices Mostly on the Rise

Unlike the Taigun, the Volkswagen Virtus has largely seen price hikes across its range. The base Comfortline variant is now costlier by ₹66,000, with prices starting at ₹10.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

Lower and mid variants like the Highline AT and GT Line MT have become ₹51,000 more expensive. The Highline Plus MT now costs ₹46,000 extra, while its automatic version has gone up by ₹45,000.

At the top end, the Virtus Topline AT has received only a marginal hike of ₹2,000. Meanwhile, the more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol versions are pricier too, ₹10,000 more for the manual and ₹30,000 more for the dual-clutch automatic.

Updated Price Range

With these revisions, the Volkswagen Virtus now carries an ex-showroom price tag ranging from ₹10.50 lakh to ₹19 lakh, depending on the variant and engine option.

What This Means for Buyers

If you’re eyeing the Taigun base variant, this is a great time to buy thanks to the sharp price cut. Virtus buyers, however, should be prepared to pay more, especially for mid and higher trims. As always, checking variant-wise pricing before booking will help you make the smartest choice.
