What Is the UPI Overdraft Facility?

This facility allows women with accounts under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana to borrow up to ₹5,000 instantly. Instead of visiting a bank branch, they can access funds directly through UPI, making borrowing simple and hassle-free.

How It Works

Women can link their overdraft account to any UPI app and use the funds just like regular money. Payments can be made by scanning QR codes, and users can easily track balances and transactions in real time, bringing convenience right to their phones.

Key Benefits at a Glance

  • Instant access to small loans without paperwork
  • Fully digital usage via UPI apps
  • Quick payments through QR codes
  • Easy tracking of spending and balance
  • A Step Towards Financial Empowerment

This initiative was launched in collaboration with National Payments Corporation of India, Indian Banks' Association, and Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission. Its core aim is to empower rural women by giving them quick access to funds for small businesses and daily needs.

Beyond just credit, the scheme also helps women build a credit history and become more confident with digital banking tools.

Why It Matters

Bank officials see this as a big leap in digital financial inclusion. By removing traditional barriers and offering transparent, easy credit, the initiative opens new doors for women to manage money independently and grow financially.
