LPG Price Increase: Gas Cylinder Becomes Costlier By Rs 111 In New Year Surprise | Check Updated City-Wise Rates
The New Year has opened with higher fuel costs for businesses, as the government increased the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 111, effective January 1. The move is expected to raise operating expenses for hotels, restaurants, small eateries and other commercial establishments across the country.
Revised Commercial LPG Rates In Major Cities
Following the price revision, the cost of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has risen to Rs 1,691.50 from Rs 1,580.50. In Kolkata, prices have increased to Rs 1,795 from Rs 1,684, while Mumbai has seen rates climb to Rs 1,642.50 from Rs 1,531. The hike comes at a time when many businesses are already facing pressure from rising input costs.
According to Indian Oil’s updated price list, commercial LPG cylinders now cost Rs 1,953.50 in Patna, Rs 1,691 in Noida, Rs 1,814 in Lucknow, Rs 1,696 in Bhopal and Rs 1,708.50 in Gurugram. Price variations across cities are largely due to differences in local taxes, transportation charges and distribution costs.
No Change In Domestic LPG Cylinder Prices
Household consumers, however, have been spared from the latest hike. Prices of 14-kg domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged across the country, offering some relief at the start of the year.
Currently, domestic LPG cylinders are priced at Rs 853 in Delhi, Rs 852.50 in Mumbai, Rs 890.50 in Lucknow, Rs 860 in Ahmedabad, Rs 905 in Hyderabad, Rs 916.50 in Varanasi and Rs 951 in Patna. Overall, domestic LPG prices continue to range between Rs 850 and Rs 960.
What Drives LPG Price Changes
LPG prices are influenced by several factors, including global fuel rates, the rupee-dollar exchange rate, freight and insurance costs, and the Import Parity Price. State-level taxes and logistical expenses further contribute to differences in prices across regions.
PNG Price Cut Brings Relief To Households
Even as commercial LPG prices rise, households in Delhi and the National Capital Region have received some relief. Indraprastha Gas Limited has announced a reduction in domestic piped natural gas prices, effective from the beginning of 2026.
Under the revised rates, domestic PNG now costs Rs 47.89 per SCM in Delhi, Rs 46.70 per SCM in Gurugram, and Rs 47.76 per SCM in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. The reduction is expected to help ease household energy expenses in the region.
