What Is PM Matritva Vandana Yojana ?

PMMVY is a maternity benefit scheme launched to ensure proper care for both mother and child. Under this scheme, pregnant women receive monetary support in stages to help meet nutritional and medical needs during pregnancy.

When Was the Scheme Launched?

The scheme was introduced on January 1, 2017. It is also known as the Pradhan Mantri Pregnancy Assistance Scheme and has since supported lakhs of women across the country.


Who Can Apply?

Only pregnant women are eligible to apply under PMMVY.

Documents Required

  • To apply, the following documents are needed:
  • Parents’ Aadhaar card
  • Child’s birth certificate
  • Bank account details and passbook

How Is the ₹6,000 Given?

The total assistance of ₹6,000 is released in phases:
  • ₹1,000 in the first phase
  • ₹2,000 in the second phase
  • ₹2,000 in the third phase
  • The remaining ₹1,000 is paid to the hospital at the time of delivery
This structured payment ensures timely care during pregnancy and childbirth.


PMMVY 2026 Update: What’s New?

  • Beneficiaries can now receive treatment in private hospitals as well.
  • Online applications have been introduced for ease and convenience.
  • Offline applications are still accepted.
  • State-wise helpline numbers have been launched for queries and complaints. You can call 7998799804 for assistance and grievance redressal.

How to Apply Online

  • Visit the official website: wcd.nic.in
  • Go to the Back Office Login option.
  • Enter your email ID, password, and captcha.
  • Log in to access the application form.
  • Fill in all details carefully and review before submitting.

How to Apply Offline

If online application is not possible:
  • Visit your nearest anganwadi centre or health centre.
  • Fill out the three prescribed forms as per guidelines.
  • Submit them at the centre and collect the acknowledgement slip.
  • This slip can be used to avail benefits at the hospital.
