April 14: Widespread Closures Across India

April 14 will see banks shut in most cities due to a mix of major festivals and observances like Ambedkar Jayanti, Tamil New Year, Baisakhi, Bohag Bihu, and other regional celebrations. However, banks will remain open in select cities such as Aizawl, Bhopal, Chandigarh, New Delhi, Raipur, Shillong, and Shimla.

April 15: Regional New Year Celebrations Continue

On April 15, bank closures will be limited to specific cities due to festivals like Pohela Boishakh, Vishu, and Himachal Day. Cities including Guwahati, Kolkata, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, and Shimla will observe a holiday, while banking services will function normally in most other regions.

April 16: Limited Impact

Bank closures on April 16 are minimal, affecting only Guwahati due to Bohag Bihu. In the rest of the country, banks will operate as usual.

April 19: Sunday Closure

As expected, banks will remain closed nationwide on Sunday, April 19.

Check Before You Go

The Reserve Bank of India releases an official holiday calendar every year, detailing city-wise closures. Since bank holidays vary by region, it’s always wise to confirm your local schedule before making a visit.

With only a few working days in between, a little planning can save you time and hassle.
