Big Relief for HDFC Bank Users as This Charge Gets Reduced from May 1
If you’re an account holder at HDFC Bank , there’s a small but welcome relief coming your way. The bank has announced a reduction in its Insta Alert SMS charges, making it cheaper to stay updated on your transactions.
Lower Charges, More Savings
Starting May 1, 2026, the cost of Insta Alert SMS will drop from 20 paise + GST to 15 paise + GST per message. While the cut may look small, it adds up over time, especially for customers who receive frequent transaction alerts.
For example, if you receive 100 SMS alerts in a month, your cost will come down from ₹20 to ₹15 (plus GST). That’s a direct saving of ₹5 every month.
Email Alerts Still Free
There’s no change when it comes to email notifications. HDFC Bank has confirmed that email alerts will continue to be completely free, giving customers an alternative way to track transactions without any cost.
Why SMS Alerts Still Matter
Even in the age of apps and emails, SMS alerts remain crucial. They instantly notify you about when, where, and how much money is debited or credited, helping you keep a close watch on your account. More importantly, they allow you to act quickly if you spot any suspicious activity.
Easy Control Over Alerts
Managing these alerts is simple. Customers can turn SMS alerts on or off anytime via NetBanking, depending on their preference.
With reduced SMS charges effective May 1, 2026, HDFC Bank is making everyday banking just a little more affordable, while still keeping customers informed and secure.
