What is the TRACES Portal?

TRACES stands for TDS Reconciliation Analysis and Correction Enabling System. The new version works as a single-window platform where users can manage almost every TDS and TCS activity in one place. Existing users don’t need to worry, accessing the old portal will automatically redirect them to the updated one. There’s also a dedicated portal for NRIs to make compliance easier.

A Cleaner, Smarter Experience

The biggest highlight is the improved design. The interface is now more intuitive, with a central dashboard that puts everything within easy reach. From downloading TDS certificates and accessing forms to tracking credits and raising correction requests, everything is neatly organized in one space. A new compliance section also helps users stay updated with both current and past tax rules without confusion.

Know the Difference

While TRACES handles TDS tracking and documentation, tax payments will continue to be made through the Income Tax e-filing portal. This separation ensures each platform focuses on what it does best.

Updated TDS Forms Under the New Law

With the Income Tax Act 2025 in effect, key TDS forms have been renamed:
  • Form 24Q - Form 138: Used for salary-related TDS, filed by employers and certain banks.
  • Form 26Q - Form 140: Covers non-salary payments like rent, commission, brokerage, and professional fees.

The new TRACES portal is a step toward hassle-free tax management. With a cleaner interface, centralized access, and updated forms, it promises a more streamlined experience, saving time and reducing complexity for taxpayers across the board.
