Refunds for canceled IndiGo flights to be completed by tomorrow

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has ordered IndiGo to process all pending passenger refunds by 8:00pm tomorrow.

The directive comes as the airline continues to face operational disruptions across India for the fifth consecutive day.

More than 400 IndiGo flights were canceled yesterday alone, leaving thousands of passengers stranded at airports in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Guwahati, and other cities.

Government mandates baggage delivery

The ministry has also directed IndiGo to ensure that all separated baggage due to cancellations or delays is traced and delivered within 48 hours.

The airline has been asked to set up passenger support and refund cells, which will remain operational until normalcy is restored.

This comes after IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers apologized for the flight cancellations, promising a return to normalcy between December 10-15.

Government introduces airfare caps

The Civil Aviation Ministry has also imposed airfare caps on routes affected by IndiGo's operational disruptions.

This move comes after air ticket prices skyrocketed due to the airline's flight cancellations.

An official order has been issued to all airlines, directing them to strictly adhere to these fare caps until normalcy is restored in operations.
