SBI Card changes reward point rules from April 1

SBI Card has announced various changes to its reward points redemption policy, impacting how customers can convert reward points into statement credit. The revised rules are effective from April 1, 2026, according to a notice published on SBI Card’s website.
The new rules apply on a monthly redemption cap, revised redemption multiples and updated timelines for reward points forfeiture on promotional offers.

Here is a detailed look at how it will impact SBI credit card holders.

SBI Card monthly cap of 60,000 reward points on statement credit
Now, for select credit cards, the redemption of reward points for statement credit will be capped at 60,000 points per month from April 1, 2026. This means if a customer wants to redeem 75,000 reward points in May 2026, only 60,000 points will be credited as statement credit.

However, this revised reward point limit will not apply to the following SBI premium credit cards:
Air India SBI Signature Card
PhonePe SBI Card PURPLE
PhonePe SBI Card SELECT BLACK
All other eligible SBI credit card holders will be subject to this monthly cap.

According to a statement on the SBI Card website, “W.e.f. April 1, 2026, the redemption of reward points for statement credit will be capped at 60,000 reward points per card per calendar month. Please note that the capping on redemption is applicable to all credit cards for which reward points can be redeemed as statement credit, except Air India SBI Signature Card, PhonePe SBI Card PURPLE and PhonePe SBI Card SELECT BLACK.”

Redemption allowed only in multiples of 4,000 points

Effective April 1, 2026, SBI Card has revised the redemption structure. Now statement credit redemption for select credit cards can be made only in multiples of 4,000 reward points.

This means customers can redeem reward points in slabs such as 4,000, 8,000, 12,000, 16,000 points, and so on, up to a monthly ceiling of 60,000 points.

Changes in reward points forfeiture timelines for promotional offers

Changes from January 2026
Cashback offers
SBI Card has introduced new timelines for the forfeiture of reward points related to promotional benefits for offers launched on or after January 15, 2026.

Reward points forfeiture on cashback offers is now processed within 90 days of cashback posting date.
Reward points forfeiture on instant discount offers is processed within 120 days from the end of the offer month.

Domestic lounge access changes from January 2026
