TVK chief Vijay files nomination, declares Rs 615 crore assets ahead of TN polls

TVK chief Vijay on Monday filed his nomination from the Perambur constituency in Chennai, urging voters to support his party's whistle symbol in the April 23 elections and expressing confidence in forming the next government.

In his affidavit, Vijay declared total assets worth ₹615 crore, including ₹405 crore in movable assets and ₹210 crore in immovable assets.

Addressing supporters from an open-top campaign vehicle after filing his nomination, he sharply criticised the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), holding it responsible for the current state of Tamil Nadu. He specifically targeted Chief Minister M K Stalin, alleging that his government had failed the people.

Positioning himself as a pro-people alternative, Vijay urged voters to choose between what he called an "anti-people government" led by Stalin and his own vision focused on public welfare. He called for a "whistle revolution" at the ballot box.

Vijay said he had lefta comfortable life to enter politics to serve the public and repay their support. He assured voters of his honesty and commitment, promising not to mislead them.

Highlighting civic issues, he questioned the lack of basic amenities in areas like Perambur and criticised governance standards, asking whether the current situation reflected proper administration.

With his entry into the electoral race, Vijay has intensified the political contest in Tamil Nadu, seeking to convert his widespread popularity into electoral success.
