Why SBI customers may face OTP service disruptions
State Bank of India (SBI) has issued an alert to customers about possible disruptions in OTP-based services due to scheduled maintenance on Saturday (April 11, 2026). SBI customers using internet and mobile banking services to make payments should take note of the specific time window to avoid inconvenience.
SBI OTP services to be unavailable during these hours
OTP-based services of internet banking, YONO Lite and YONO may face intermittent disruptions between 02:30 hrs and 02:50 hrs. (IST) on April 11, 2026, due to OTP scheduled maintenance.
According to an SBI’s social media post on X (formerly Twitter): “Due to scheduled maintenance activity, there may be intermittent disruptions in OTP-based journeys of internet banking, YONO Lite and YONO between 02:30 hrs and 02:50 hrs. (IST) on April 11, 2026. During this period, customers may use ATM, UPI, Secure OTP and SBI Authenticator for uninterrupted services.”
SBI has clarified that customers can continue to use alternative channels for uninterrupted services. Customers can carry out transactions through ATM services, UPI, Secure OTP and the SBI Authenticator, which are expected to function normally during the maintenance window.

SBI Secure OTP is an OTP generation app for verifying transactions done through SBI Internet Banking and the Yono Lite SBI app.

SBI Authenticator is an additional factor authentication solution developed by SBI.
SBI Authenticator empowers users with options to choose from multiple authentication options. Customers can choose from either prompt or QR or app-based OTP, offering a modern, secure and reliable alternative to SMS OTPs.
How to generate a secure OTP
SBI users can generate an OTP at the time of performing a transaction on teh SBI Internet Banking/Yono Lite SBI application in two modes:
Online OTP, for which, an Internet connection (via SIM or Wi-Fi) is required.
How to register for SBI Secure OTP app
Step 1: Download and open the SBI Secure OTP app, enter username
A message will be shown on the screen regarding sending an SMS from the device for validating the mobile number.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Proceed’ button and an SMS containing a unique code will be sent from the device to a pre-defined number. Kindly note that for sending the SMS, standard SMS charges are applicable as per your SMS plan.
Step 3: Enter password and click on ‘Proceed’. Accept the terms & conditions for registration by selecting the check box and click the ‘Ok’ button.
Step 4: An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number.
Step 5: Enter the OTP received and after OTP validation, the user will be asked to set an MPIN for the SBI Secure OTP app.
After that, an activation code will be sent to the registered mobile number. This activation code is valid for 10 minutes. The user has to complete the activation by login to OnlineSBI.
