'You don't deserve me': woman calls husband 'kaala', plots murder with lover; acts 'inconsolable' after his death
In a shocking case from Madhya Pradesh's Dhar, the murder of a young spice trader has uncovered a disturbing story of betrayal and a carefully planned conspiracy. What was initially reported as a robbery has now been revealed as a premeditated killing allegedly orchestrated by the victim's wife and her partner.
The incident took place on the night of April 7, when 28-year-old Devkrishna Purohit was found dead inside his home. His body bore multiple injuries inflicted with a sharp weapon, indicating a violent attack.
At first, his wife Priyanka claimed that unidentified robbers had broken in, looted valuables worth around Rs 3.5 lakh, and killed her husband when he resisted. However, as the investigation progressed, inconsistencies in her account began to surface, raising suspicion.
Family members told police that the couple's marriage had been strained for years. According to Devkrishna's sister Jyoti, Priyanka frequently humiliated him and expressed dissatisfaction with the relationship. What seemed like ongoing domestic discord soon appeared to be part of a deeper plot.
Police investigations revealed that Priyanka was allegedly in a relationship with a man identified as Kamlesh Purohit from Rajgarh. Investigators believe the two decided to eliminate Devkrishna, seeing him as an obstacle.
According to officials, Kamlesh contacted an associate, Surendra Bhati, and allegedly hired him to carry out the murder for Rs 1 lakh, paying half the amount in advance. On the night of the crime, the house door was reportedly left unlocked to allow easy access. Surendra is believed to have entered the house and attacked Devkrishna while he was asleep.
To mislead investigators, the crime scene was staged to resemble a robbery. The house was ransacked, and Priyanka later raised an alarm, claiming she had been tied up and held captive by the attackers.
However, the fabricated story began to fall apart during questioning. Police found contradictions in Priyanka's statements, and a search of the house led to the recovery of jewellery she had earlier reported stolen. Mobile phone data further established communication between her and Kamlesh around the time of the incident.
During interrogation, Priyanka allegedly confessed to her role in the conspiracy. Both she and Kamlesh have since been arrested, while Surendra Bhati remains absconding. Police teams are continuing efforts to trace him and are awaiting forensic reports to determine if any substance was used during the crime.
The incident has left the victim's family in deep shock. His mother has demanded strict punishment for all those involved, while his sister described years of conflict within the household, alleging that Priyanka maintained distance from the family and frequently left home for extended periods.
Investigators now believe the murder was not a sudden act, but the result of prolonged tensions, an extramarital relationship, and a calculated plan that ultimately turned fatal.
