UK travellers are still facing confusion over airport liquid rules, according to travel experts. It comes as more than half of UK airports are still enforcing the 100ml limit rule, despite other hubs scrapping it completely. Travel experts at Noble Life have warned that the inconsistency among UK airports is catching thousands of travellers off guard, especially as travel is expected to surge with the May half-term approaching.

A spokesperson from Noble Life said: "The postcode lottery on liquid rules is creating real financial pain for families. Passengers are arriving at airports expecting the new rules to apply everywhere, only to lose expensive toiletries, cosmetics, and baby formula at security. For a family of four, that can easily mean £100 or more in confiscated items before the holiday even starts."

While nearly 20 major airports still implement the old liquid rule implemented in 2006, Heathrow, Edinburgh, Birmingham, and Bristol allow passengers to hold up to 2 litres of liquids through security after completing scanner upgrades, while dozens of other major airports, including Manchester and Luton, still enforce the old restrictions.

Heathrow completed a £1 billion security overhaul, becoming the largest airport in the world to fully implement CT scanners across all terminals, allowing the liquid rule to be permanently lifted.

UK airports such as Aberdeen, Bournemouth, Cardiff, East Midlands, Glasgow International, Glasgow Prestwick, Inverness, Isle of Man, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, Luton, London City Airport, Manchester, Newcastle, Newquay, Norwich, Southampton, Southend, Stansted, and Teesside, all remain enforcing the 100ml liquid rule.

The spokesperson from Noble Life added: "Before heading to the airport this May, check your specific departure airport's website for their current liquid rules.

"Pack a clear plastic bag with 100ml containers as a backup, even if you think the restrictions have been lifted. The last thing you want is to start an expensive holiday by binning £50 worth of toiletries at security because you flew from the wrong airport."

You can take liquids up to 2 litres through security at all UK airports. These include containers essential for medical purposes, for special dietary requirements, or those containing baby food or baby milk.
