20-year-old woman harassed inside moving bus in UP; 4 arrested

AGRA: The Agra Police have arrested four men for allegedly harassing a 20-year-old woman inside a moving bus, following a distress alert shared on social media.

According to an official statement, the incident came to light on 27 April after a post on X reported that four men were misbehaving with two women on a bus travelling from Kanpur to Ahmedabad.

The post also stated that the bus was nearing Namner Crossing in Agra, under the jurisdiction of Rakabganj Police Station.

Acting swiftly, the Rakabganj Police Station was alerted and immediately intercepted the bus within its jurisdiction. Police personnel reached the spot, spoke to the victims, and verified the allegations.

“All four accused involved in the incident were arrested on the spot, and necessary legal action has been initiated,” the Agra Police said in a statement to TOI.

Officials said that, under the leadership of Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar, the force remains committed to ensuring women’s safety and follows a zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against women.

Police added that strict and prompt action will continue against offenders to ensure safety in public transport and other public spaces.
