22-yr-old youth stabbed to death by friend in Azamgarh

Varanasi: A 22-year-old youth was stabbed to death by his friend in Islampura Chakra village under Mubarakpur police station in Azamgarh district, late Friday night.

Azamgarh CO (Sadar) Astha Jaiswal on Saturday said a youth named Hasnain was rushed to hospital after being stabbed by his friend Irfan over some dispute on Friday night. Hasnain died during treatment, after which his body was sent for post-mortem.

On complaint of Hasnain's family, named FIR was lodged against Irfan, while police were engaged in nabbing the accused, who absconded after attacking Hasnain.

During investigation, it came to light that Hasnain and his friend Irfan were busy talking outside their neighbouring houses in Islampura locality on Friday night. They got into a heated argument, after which Irfan attacked Hasnain with a knife repeatedly and fled the scene. On hearing Hasnain's cries, his father Naushad opened the door found him lying in a pool of blood.

Naushad raised an alarm, after which people from neighbouring houses gathered and rushed him to hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The deceased, who was fifth among seven brothers and three sisters, was a weaver by profession.
