25-Year-Old Woman Allegedly Gang-Raped In Moving Car, Abandoned On Gurgaon-Faridabad Road
A late-night lift turned into a nightmare for a 25-year-old woman, who was allegedly gang-raped and assaulted by two men in a van on Monday night, leaving her with serious facial injuries requiring 12 stitches, according to The Times of India. The incident reportedly took place on the Gurgaon–Faridabad Road, a stretch known for sparse traffic late at night.
Police sources said the woman was held inside the van for nearly three hours as it moved through isolated areas of Faridabad in dense fog, severely limiting visibility and any chance of immediate help. In the early hours of Tuesday, she was allegedly pushed out of the moving vehicle.
According to investigators, the woman had left her home around 8.30 pm on Monday after an argument with her mother and told her sister she would return within two to three hours. However, her plans were delayed, and by the time she set out to return home, it was close to midnight. With no transport available at that hour, she reportedly accepted a lift in a van in which two men were already present.
Instead of taking her to her destination, the men allegedly diverted the vehicle toward the Gurgaon–Faridabad Road. Police said the van travelled beyond the Hanuman temple on the stretch, where the woman was allegedly raped by both men. Her attempts to raise an alarm reportedly failed as the road was largely deserted due to thick fog and freezing temperatures.
Around 3 am, the woman was allegedly thrown out of the van near Mula Hotel at Raja Chowk in SGM Nagar. Despite her injuries, she managed to call her sister, who immediately rushed her to a hospital in Faridabad. Doctors initially referred her to a Delhi hospital for further treatment, but the family later admitted her to a private facility in the city.
Following a complaint filed by the survivor’s family, a case was registered at Kotwali police station. The Faridabad crime branch has detained two suspects in connection with the case, and police said further questioning and verification are underway.
Officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that more details will emerge as evidence is examined. The incident has once again highlighted serious concerns over women’s safety during late-night travel, especially on poorly monitored roads and in low-visibility conditions.
