30 teams compete at moot court contest
Patna: Uttar Pradesh Human Rights Commission chairman and Allahabad high court Justice Bal Krishna Narayan on Thursday said that the primary duty of a judge is to serve litigants and protect their genuine and lawful interests.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the NHRC–CUSB Moot Court Competition 2026, organised by the School of Law and Governance at the Central University of South Bihar ( CUSB ), Justice Narayan said moot court competitions not only impart legal knowledge but also cultivate advocacy skills and the ability to present arguments among students. Emphasising the importance of composure and humility in courts, he asserted that humility is as important as intellectual prowess.
CUSB vice-chancellor K N Singh, in his presidential address, observed that such moot court competitions reinforce awareness of contemporary human rights issues—particularly the right to privacy—among young law students. Citing the concept of “one soul”, he said a shift in societal mindset is essential for the effective implementation of laws.
Moot Court Society convener Mani Pratap said as many as 30 teams from law institutions across the country participated in the national-level competition. A total prize money of Rs 1.44 lakh was awarded to the winners to encourage the participants.
