7 arrested for thrashing teen in Dhauli
Bhubaneswar: Dhauli police here on Friday arrested 7 youths for the alleged brutal assault of a 16-year-old boy, which they also recorded on their phones. The attack is said to have stemmed from a previous dispute between the teenager and one of the accused.
“The accused abducted the boy from a village market on the outskirts of the city on Oct 6, taking him to a secluded spot where they beat him up. They also threatened him not to report the incident to police,” a police officer said.
The boy, frightened after the attack, remained silent about his ordeal. However, the situation came to light when his mother came across a viral video of the attack on Thursday. She filed a complaint at Dhauli police station, resulting in the arrest of the perpetrators. A juvenile was also detained in connection with the crime.
