Asda cuts meningitis jab to cost price in bid to get thousands vaccinated
Asda Pharmacy is offering its Meningitis B (MenB) vaccination at cost price in all of its pharmacies until the April 30, following confirmation from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) that some of the recent cases identified in the Kent outbreak are MenB.
Customers will be able to access the vaccine for £75 per dose (£150 for a full course – dual dose). The dual dose is usually priced at £179.96. The retailer will be prioritising vulnerable groups, with a particular emphasis on 18-25 year olds, with the vaccines available.
Meningitis B is a fast‑acting and potentially life‑threatening infection. Vaccination offers an important layer of protection, with the first dose beginning to take effect within two weeks.
Faisal Tuddy, Head of Pharmacy & Superintendent Pharmacist at Asda, said: “We understand that many families are increasingly worried about the Meningitis B outbreak and as a community-focussed retailer, we want to do all we can to help. By offering this vaccine at cost price, we’re making it as easy and affordable as possible for people who can’t access it through the NHS. This service is available in all Asda Pharmacies and we're consistently monitoring stock levels to ensure we can offer this service to as many customers as possible.”
Asda Pharmacy is offering both doses of the Meningitis B vaccination for £75 each until April 30, 2026 in all 242 Asda Pharmacies across the UK, on a first come, first served basis.
Customers are advised to book ahead before arriving in store, either through www.asda.com/instore/pharmacy or by calling their local Asda Pharmacy directly if no appointments are showing as available.
