It's time for day two in Brisbane as Australia and England get ready to resume cricket's fiercest rivalry. The tourists are ahead of the game in the second Ashes Test after a stunning day-one century from Joe Root. He scored an unbeaten 135 - his first Test century on Australian soil - to put England on 325-9 at the close on day one. Root was ably supported by opener Zak Crawley, who made 76, while pink-ball wizard Mitchell Starc was yet again the stand-out for the Aussies with six for 71 from his 19 overs.

But if we learned anything from the opening Test match, it can all change in the blink of an eye. On and off the field, The Ashes continues to make compelling viewing, as stand-in Australian captain Steve Smith has proved. His war-of-words with ex-England spinner Monty Panesar boiled over before the series started and Panesar had another pop at Smith in the build-up to Brisbane. Meanwhile, although day one went England's way on the field, captain Ben Stokes was given an injury scare at The Gabba when fast bowler Mark Wood - absent for this one due to a knee problem - suggested that he might be a doubt for the third Test in Adelaide, too.
