BBC viewers have confessed they "can't wait for the tea" as a brand new programme exploring the realm of billionaires is scheduled to arrive later this year.

The corporation has announced a new 60-minute film coming to BBC Three and BBC iPlayer. Shabaz Asks: Are Billionaires Bad? has yet to be given an official launch date, but the forthcoming episode is anticipated to drop later this year.

Presented by digital content creator Shabaz Ali, who is recognised by his four million plus followers as ShabazSays, the film pledges to deliver an "entertaining look at the heated and nuanced debate around wealth disparity."

Shabaz - who is extensively recognised for his material on wealth inequality - launched the project with an appeal on his social media platforms for an interview with a billionaire, reports the Mirror.

Shabaz Ali said: "I've always looked at my social media content as only one way to approach important subjects.

"I'm interested in digging deeper into the issues of inequality, community and our comparative culture, and a film offers the most exciting opportunity yet to ask questions about our culture: whether it is broken, or whether we just need to update our perspective.

"There is no format quite like television in which to do that. I am super nervous, but I'm super excited to be working with the BBC to make a film that will explore the burning question 'are billionaires bad?'

"It's going to be interesting to leave all the filming, editing, producing to someone else (since it's always been just me doing it all for my online videos) but TV is something I have always wanted to do and this is going to be very fun."

Shabaz, the self-styled 'King of the Povvos', has built his reputation on delivering blunt assessments of the ultra-wealthy, all captured from his bedroom in Blackburn.

In this forthcoming BBC documentary, he will venture out to encounter a billionaire face-to-face to discover what existence is like for those with extreme wealth.

Responding on Instagram, one viewer posted: "Cannot waittt for the TEA." Another commented: "Omg this is going to be SOOOO GOOOD!!!"

A third remarked: "This sounds brilliant." A fourth wrote: "Oooh this tea we want it and don't change it mind lol."

Shabaz Asks: Are Billionaires Bad? will air on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three later this year.
