Benaulim man arrested for cousin's assault
Colva: Colva police arrestedDelroy Fernandes, 21, of Benaulim for allegedly assaulting his cousin multiple times in a day and causing injuries.
According to a complaint filed by Calvin Fernandes, the first incident occurred on the evening of April 25 at Sernabatim beach. Calvin alleged that Delroy, whose parents are Benaulim panchayat members, attacked him by choking his neck and issuing death threats to him and his mother.
The situation escalated later when Calvin returned home. The accused, along with an unidentified person, allegedly assaulted him again with slaps and punches, pushed his head against a grill, and threw him to the ground.
When Calvin’s mother, Bernandina Silva, intervened, Delroy allegedly abused her, pulled her hair, and pushed her to the ground. Police said the act amounted to assault on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty.
Police have registered offences including voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, intentional insult, unlawful assembly, rioting, wrongful confinement, and assault on a woman. The accused has been taken into custody.
