Bengaluru: BMTC bus hit by express train while reversing near Sadaramangala
Mahadevapura: A BMTC bus was damaged after being hit by an express train while reversing on a railway track near Sadaramangala, close to Kadugodi in Mahadevapura, on Monday morning, police said.
The incident occurred around 10 am on the railway parallel road at Sadaramangala. The BMTC bus, bearing registration number KA-57 F 6000 and belonging to Sadaramangala Depot-51, was heading towards the Kadugodi bus stand.
At that moment, the Tata Express train arrived and collided with the rear portion of the bus, causing severe damage. Fortunately, there were no passengers inside the bus at the time of the accident, and no fatalities were reported.
However, the bus conductor, identified as Srinivas, sustained injuries in the incident. He was later provided medical attention.
Following the accident, officials from the railways and BMTC visited the spot and carried out an inspection.
The incident took place between Hoodi and Whitefield railway stations. Based on a complaint filed by Muthu, Senior Section Engineer of the railways, a case has been registered against the bus driver, Shanmugam. Railway police have taken up further investigation.
Authorities said the accident occurred when the bus entered an unauthorised road near the railway track.
