BSBRT registers Nalanda temple

Patna: Bihar State Board of Religious Trusts ( BSBRT ) president Ranvir Nandan said on Thursday that Sheetla Mata Mandir located in Maghra village of Nalanda district, where a stampede had occurred on Tuesday claiming nine lives, has been registered with the BSBRT under the Bihar Hindu Dharmik Nyas Act , 1950.

On Tuesday, the temple witnessed a huge rush as several thousands of devotees arrived in the morning to offer prayers and make offerings. No security personnel or police personnel were deployed to manage the crowd. This resulted in a stampede that killed nine people, including eight women, and injured 12 others. Later, the govt ordered a high-level probe into the incident.

On Thursday, Nandan registered the temple with the BSBRT under the Bihar Hindu Dharmik Nyas Act, 1950. The registration number of the temple is 4,902/2026.

Biharsharif SDO has been made the temporary trustee of the temple. The trust would help in the efficient running and management of the temple, the notification issued by the BSBRT said.
