Chandrapur: Unidentified burglars decamped with more than Rs 10 lakh after breaking open a Bank of Maharashtra ATM at Pandharkawda village under Ghughus police limits late Sunday night.

The thieves arrived in a white Bolero, sprayed paint on the CCTV camera, cut power supply cables, and used a gas cutter to slice open the machine before fleeing with the cash. Police said the gang appeared well-prepared as they were carrying all the equipment in their vehicle.

On receiving information, Ghughus police, along with Chandrapur's dog squad, fingerprint experts, and forensic team, rushed to the spot and began an investigation. A video of the burgled ATM has since gone viral.

The ATM, located on the busy Chandrapur–Ghughus road, had reportedly been targeted earlier too. Despite repeated incidents, no security guard had been deployed at the kiosk.
