Ranchi: Students appearing for the Class 10 and 12 board examinations under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) are benefiting from its annual counselling initiative, which focuses on reducing exam-related stress and strengthening students’ mental well being.

According to experts, this year, CBSE expanded its support system by introducing dedicated sections titled Exam Warriors and Manodarpan. Through these platforms, students are gaining practical guidance on time management, concentration, emotional balance and positive thinking.

Schools report that students are actively accessing podcasts, videos and infographics available on the CBSE website, finding them helpful in understanding how to handle pressure during examinations.

Teachers and school counsellors observed that students using these digital resources appeared more confident and better prepared, both academically and emotionally. The availability of counselling content in simple and engaging formats enabled students to connect with expert advice beyond the classroom, especially during revision hours at home.

In addition to online materials, students and parents are availing themselves of free psycho-social counselling services provided by CBSE from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm on working days. Many parents found the service useful in learning how to support their children during the examination phase. The board clarified that the counselling programme will continue until June 1, in line with the 2nd phase of the Class 10 board examinations.

Rajat Verma, a parent said, “The psycho-social counselling services are extremely helpful. Knowing that professional help is available gives us reassurance. These initiatives have made the exam phase more balanced and positive for both students and parents.”

According to experts, to strengthen school-level support, CBSE formed a counselling team comprising principals, school counsellors, special educators and qualified psychologists from affiliated schools. Of the total, 63 counsellors are based in India, while 12 experts from countries including Nepal, Japan, Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates are also providing guidance. Students are receiving tips on effective preparation, coping with anxiety and improving performance.

An interactive voice response system-based toll-free support system further widened access, allowing students from different regions to seek timely assistance. Principal of Gurunanak Higher Secondary School, Sumit Kaur, said, "CBSE urged schools, students and parents to make maximum use of these services so that learners remain mentally strong, emotionally balanced and confident throughout the examination period."

Astha Pandey, a student of Dani Public School Khunti, said, "Before using Exam Warriors and Manodarpan, I used to feel anxious during exams. The videos and podcasts helped me understand how to manage my time and stay calm. Now I feel more confident.”
