Digitization to Be Completed by February 2026

According to the government, the entire scheme will go completely online by February 2026. Once implemented, families of farmers who lose their lives or suffer serious accidents will not have to submit applications physically. The process will be smooth, online, and accessible from home.

No Office Visits, No Paperwork Stress

Under the new digital system, information related to a farmer’s death or accident will be verified online. Required documents will also be checked digitally. After successful verification, the compensation amount will be credited directly to the beneficiary’s bank account, saving both time and effort.

₹5 Lakh Financial Support for Affected Families

The scheme provides financial assistance of ₹5 lakh in case of a farmer’s accidental death or permanent disability. This amount is meant to offer immediate financial security to families during difficult times.

From Long Queues to One-Click Support

Earlier, families had to visit tehsil offices and complete lengthy paperwork. The process often took months. With digitization, the entire application, verification, and approval system will be online, ensuring transparency and faster disbursal of funds.

Scheme Launched in 2019

The Chief Minister’s Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme was launched in 2019 under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath . The aim was to provide financial protection to farmers and their families against unforeseen accidents.

Thousands of Farmers Already Benefited

As per official data, till December 2025, around 29,394 farmers or their families have received financial assistance under this scheme, making it a strong support system for the farming community.

Accidents Covered Under the Scheme

The scheme covers a wide range of accidents, including lightning strikes, floods, fire, electrocution, tree fall, house collapse, animal attacks, landslides, travel-related accidents, and deaths due to robbery or violence. This broad coverage ensures farmers are protected against most risks linked to farming and daily life.

Overall, the move to digitize the scheme marks a significant step towards faster, transparent, and farmer-friendly governance.
