Construction of key flyover in Ranchi to be over by December, say officials

Ranchi: The construction of the 1.25 km Siramtoli-Kantatoli connecting flyover linking Bahu Bazar to Patel Chowk has gained pace, with piling and foundation work underway at multiple locations.

The Rs 213.35-crore project aims to connect two major corridors and streamline traffic movement across Ranchi’s busiest stretches.

According to officials of the Road Construction Department (RCD), 37% of the work has been completed so far. Out of 78 spans, 12 have reached the substructure stage, while 4 spans are ready up to the superstructure level and 2 more are under progress. Foundation work is ongoing at additional points to maintain momentum.

RCD officials said the four-lane flyover will begin near Bahu Bazar and integrate with existing flyovers at both ends, creating a seamless elevated corridor. “This project is designed to decongest Siramtoli Junction, where traffic volume far exceeds capacity,” said Sunil Kumar, RCD secretary, adding that vehicle load is expected to reduce by nearly 56% after completion.

“It will enable uninterrupted movement for long-distance commuters and significantly cut travel time. The integration of multiple corridors will transform urban mobility in the city,” he added.

The project started in May 2025 and is targeted for completion by Dec this year.
