Cop stabbed, attackers flee with his bike

Nagpur: Sub-inspector Sachin Waklekar of Kalamna police station was seriously injured after two assailants stabbed him and fled with his motorcycle near Dipti Signal when Waklekar was escorting a rally late Wednesday evening. A manhunt has been launched for the stabbers, and CCTV cameras are being scrutinised.

Sources said the two assailants recklessly driving a bike tried to overtake the rally, prompting the people to alert the officer.

Waklekar intercepted their vehicle and told an accompanying home guard to take them to Kalamna police station for further action. While Waklekar was detaining the bike, one of the accused snatched the bike's keys and attempted to flee.

When Waklekar tried to stop him, the accused turned furious and stabbed the officer in the chest and fled with the officer's bike. His accomplice too fled using the bike they were driving.

Waklekar was immediately rushed to a private hospital for treatment.

A case has been registered at Kalamna police station.
