DA Hike Alert: Employees in This State Get Major Salary Boost
The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has brought positive news for its employees and pensioners with a revision in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR). The move comes shortly after the Central Government’s own DA hike , extending financial relief to state-level staff as well.
DA Hike Announced in Arunachal Pradesh
On May 6, the state government approved a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance for its employees. With this revision, the DA and DR rates have now been raised to 6% of basic pay and pension. The decision was announced by the Chief Minister’s Office and will benefit thousands across the state.
Effective from January 1, 2026
A key highlight of the announcement is its retrospective effect. The revised rates will be applicable from January 1, 2026. This means employees and pensioners will also receive arrears for the first four months of the year.
Who Will Benefit
The decision will positively impact a large workforce in the state:
Pensioners Also Included
Pensioners will receive the revised Dearness Relief at the same enhanced rate. The government has confirmed that all eligible retirees will be covered under this benefit structure, ensuring wider financial support.
Financial Impact on the State
The revision will add pressure on the state’s finances. The estimated annual burden on the exchequer stands at around ₹100.54 crore. Additionally, arrears from January to April 2026 will require nearly ₹33.51 crore in one-time expenditure, which will be paid in cash.
From May 2026 onward, the revised DA and DR amounts will be directly reflected in monthly salaries and pensions.
Government’s Message
Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated employees and expressed hope that the financial boost would further encourage them to contribute effectively to the welfare and development of the state.
The announcement is being seen as a timely relief for government staff and pensioners, offering both immediate arrears and long-term salary benefits.
