Massive Security Sweep: Delhi Police Seize Illegal Weapons and Drugs Under Operation Aaghat 3.0
As the city gears up for New Year celebrations, the Delhi Police have been working overtime to ensure everyone stays safe. In an intensive overnight sweep known as Operation Aaghat 3.0 , authorities in the South East district have arrested over 280 accused individuals. This proactive campaign was specifically designed to target organized crime and street offenders before the festive rush kicks in. By focusing on vulnerable pockets and high traffic areas, the police are sending a clear message that illegal activities will not be tolerated as we transition into 2026.
Huge Seizures of Illegal Weapons and Drugs
The sheer volume of items recovered during Operation Aaghat 3.0 is quite staggering. Police teams successfully seized 21 country made pistols, 20 live cartridges, and 27 knives from various suspects. It was not just about weapons, though, as a significant amount of narcotics and illicit substances were taken off the streets. Officials reported seizing 6.01 kg of ganja and a massive 12,258 quarters of illicit liquor. These recoveries suggest a major attempt to flood the local market with contraband ahead of holiday parties, a move that the Delhi Police effectively neutralized.Cracking Down on Habitual Offenders and Property Crimes
A major part of making Operation Aaghat 3.0 a success involved rounding up individuals with a history of criminal behavior. According to official reports, 116 listed bad characters were taken into custody during the raids. The police also made significant headway against local theft rings, arresting 10 property offenders and five auto lifters. This specific focus on dismantling vehicle theft networks is a huge win for public safety, as it helps prevent the usual spike in snatching and robbery cases often seen during high footfall events. You may also like
