CHENNAI: Former Tamil Nadu Mahila Congress president M Hazeena Syed has accused All India Mahila Congress (AIMC) president Alka Lamba of harassing her.

Hours after her resignation, which was followed by her removal from the party, Hazeena, in a strongly worded mail, said, “One of the main reasons for my resignation is your harassment.”

Hazeena resigned during a press meet after being denied a ticket for the upcoming assembly election. She also accused TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai of sidelining her and AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge of supporting Selvaperunthagai.

A day after her resignation and the allegations, Alka Lamba issued a statement announcing Hazeena’s removal from the party.

Reacting to this, Hazeena said, “Do you (Alka Lamba) have any common sense? I had already resigned yesterday.”

A few days back, Hazeena Syed had questioned the ‘lesser’ allocation of seats to women in Tamil Nadu, comparing it with other states.

She alleged that she was denied a ticket, saying there was bias against her because she was a Muslim woman and cited her exclusion from party platforms as evidence.

She also accused Alka Lamba of misusing party funds. “And mind you, you have no right to humiliate me. You are living on our membership money. Does this party have the guts to audit AIMC funds that you are spending on your luxury, and is it accountable?” Hazeena questioned.
