Noida: UP Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak inaugurated new facilities at GIMS, including a 128-slice CT-scan and digital x-ray machines, on Monday to support the expansion of the hospital infrastructure and the rising number of patients. He also inspected and reviewed the progress of the under-construction critical care block, part of the Ayushman Bharat -BHIM project

According to officials, the addition of the second 128-slice CT-scan machine will allow the institute to handle more than 100 patients daily, while also reducing long waiting hours for critical investigations, which currently range from 20 minutes to an hour. The digital x-ray machine will facilitate advanced diagnostic procedures.

Pathak also reviewed the progress of the ongoing GIMS Medical College project, which officials say is a key component in expanding the institute into a teaching and research hub.

Speaking on the occasion, he lauded the institute's efforts to strengthen patient care services and its initiatives in medical education. "GIMS is playing an important role in providing quality healthcare to the people of the region while developing an academic environment for training future doctors," Pathak said.

The institution's director Brig. (Dr) Rakesh K. Gupta thanked the govt for its continued support, noting that infrastructure development remained a major focus for the institute. He added that the construction of new hospital facilities on a 56-acre campus is progressing under a Rs 866-crore project. "About 60 percent of the first phase was completed. The second phase also received approval, but the work faced delays due to funding constraints. The project is expected to be completed by 2028," Gupta said.

The event was attended by senior faculty members, administrative staff, and local dignitaries of Noida, underscoring the district's efforts to develop GIMS as a centre of excellence in public healthcare.
