‘Dhurandhar’ Actor Nadeem Khan Arrested For Allegedly Raping Domestic Help On Promise Of Marriage
An actor associated with a recent blockbuster film has been arrested in Mumbai in connection with an alleged sexual assault case involving his domestic help, police officials said on Monday.
The accused, Nadeem Khan, who was recently seen in the Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar, was taken into custody on January 22 following a complaint filed by a 41-year-old woman, according to news agency PTI. He is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
According to the complaint, the woman had worked as a domestic help for multiple actors and came in contact with Khan several years ago. Over time, the two became close, the police said.
The woman alleged that Khan promised to marry her and, on the basis of that assurance, sexually assaulted her on several occasions over nearly 10 years. The alleged incidents reportedly took place at her residence in Malvani as well as at Khan’s home in Versova, both in Mumbai’s western suburbs.
She further claimed that Khan later refused to marry her, following which she approached the police and lodged a formal complaint.
Initially registered at the Versova police station, the case has since been transferred as a zero FIR to the Malvani police, as the first alleged incident occurred within their jurisdiction and the complainant also resides in the area, officials said.
Police have confirmed that further investigation is underway.
