Discontent deepens in RJD as Lalu's two aides fume over Shivanand's remarks

Patna: Conflicts appeared to grip the RJD following the party’s dismal performance in the recently held assembly elections. Fresh discontent surfaced after senior party leader Shivanand Tiwari publicly criticised leader of opposition in the Bihar assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav , for “disappearing from the scene” after the electoral setback, prompting sharp reactions from RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s two aides.

Slamming Tiwari for his public criticisms, RJD MLC Sunil Kumar Singh said until Tiwari received concrete assurances from the NDA partners, he would continue targeting the party. “Until JD(U) or BJP assures the so-called opportunist that he will get something, he will continue to cry foul against RJD,” Singh, popularly known as the “rakhi brother” of Lalu’s wife Rabri Devi, alleged in a social media post on Friday.

Another senior RJD leader and former state assembly chairman, Uday Narayan Choudhary, said no one holds the right to criticise Tejashwi, who is capable of taking his own decisions. “Tejashwi won’t be guided by any advice. Everyone holds the right to take his own decision," Choudhary said, adding that Tejashwi does not require counsel from anyone.

Criticising Tiwari for his public remarks, Choudhary questioned the mandate, saying, "Some people are giving advice to his leader when the NDA won because of technical reasons... Vote chori se jeet hui hai." Tiwari refused to comment, saying their remarks did not merit attention.

Social media users have urged the party to take Tiwari’s observations seriously. “There may be many disagreements with Tiwari ji, but his criticisms should not be ignored,” wrote one user.

Tiwari came under fire after strongly criticising Tejashwi for quietly disappearing from the scene post-election and advised him to return to the ground immediately. “You are the recognised LoP, but you disappeared from the scene after the poll outcome when you needed to sit with your colleagues and provide them support so that their morale remains high... Lekin tumne to maidan hi chhod diya (But you fled from the scene),” Tiwari wrote on social media on Wednesday. He also asked Tejashwi not to act like a party boss and to treat his party workers as equals
