ERODE: The DMK govt’s financial assistance of Rs 5,000 to women is a “scheme to deceive people and to loot Rs 5 lakh crore,” Tamilaga Vettrik Kazhagam (TVK) chief coordinator K A Sengottaiyan said on Thursday.

“People are preparing to overthrow DMK and its regime,” Sengottaiyan said while interacting with reporters after flagging off TVK’s election campaign vehicle at the Gobichettipalayam bus stand.

He claimed that Congress had got more tickets to contest in the DMK alliance “by pointing to us” (by threatening to leave the DMK alliance and partnering with TVK). DMK, which had initially offered 25 seats to Congress, raised it to 28 seats and offered a Rajya Sabha seat, as well.

Responding to a question, he said it remained to be seen whether TVK would contest alone or form an alliance.

Sengottaiyan said all sections of society, including youth, women and elders, accepted TVK as it would bring in a major political change in Tamil Nadu.
