NEW DELHI: Delhi University’s Ramjas College and Miranda House were evacuated after the two institutions received a bomb threat via email on Tuesday morning, police said.

Bomb disposal and dog squads were rushed to the spot and are conducting searches across the premises, the Delhi Police said, according to news agency ANI.

In similar incident, a few schools in Chandigarh received bomb threat emails on Monday, prompting authorities to carry out thorough checks across the premises.

Police teams reached the schools and began search operations inside the institutions, officials said.

"After we received the information, we reached the school premises. A thorough check is underway, but so far nothing suspicious has been found. We have urged the parents that there is no need to panic," said a police official who was present at one of the schools where the checks were underway.

The incident comes close on the heels of similar cases reported in recent weeks from multiple locations in Punjab and Haryana, including Chandigarh, where schools and the High Court had received threat emails that were later found to be hoaxes.
