Elderly man held for groping female commuter in Mumbai local train
Mumbai: A 62-year-old man was arrested by the Govt Railway Police (GRP) at Dadar for touching a 19-year-old female commuter inappropriately. The accused, DG Makhaan, lives in Delhi and works as a driver.
The incident occurred on Sept 13 around 12.30pm. The complainant was travelling with a friend in the general compartment of an UP CSMT fast local. When the train reached platform no. 12 at Dadar station, the complainant and her friend started to alight with other commuters. She told the police that the coach was crowded and the accused took advantage of the situation and touched her inappropriately.
Subsequently, the complainant approached the Dadar GRP and an FIR was registered under provisions of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused was traced and taken into custody. He was produced before a railway court which has remanded him into judicial custody.
Police said the complainant is a student.
