Emmerdale's Shaun Thomas unrecognisable as he lands HBO role eight years after exit
Emmerdale's Gerry Roberts star Shaun Thomas looks totally different in his latest role eight years following his savage ITV soap departure.
The 28 year old actor portrayed Gerry on Emmerdale between 2017 and 2018. Gerry was brought in as Lachlan White's fellow inmate at Skipdale Young Offenders Institute, with Thomas Atkinson playing Lachlan.
During this period, Lachlan was facing trial for the attempted murder of his grandfather Lawrence White, portrayed by John Bowe.
It subsequently emerged that Gerry and Lachlan were conspiring together, working as a team to manipulate Lachlan's mother, Chrissie White, played by Louise Marwood, into feeling remorseful about her son's imprisonment whilst she provided numerous presents.
After his release, Gerry arrived in Emmerdale seeking Lachlan, and Chrissie permitted Gerry to remain at Home Farm temporarily.
Nevertheless, his stint in Emmerdale proved brief as Lachlan murdered Gerry by smashing his skull with a brick at the B&B, terrified his secrets might be revealed.
When he departed, actor Shaun revealed that leaving the soap wasn't his choice.
"It were a shock because I was only meant to come here for two episodes in the prison scenes with Lachlan, and then I ended up staying here for a year and a half," he told Metro.co.uk.
"So I really got used to being around everybody and making a connection with everybody.
"And then to be told that it would be coming to an end, it were pretty upsetting."
Eight years after his shocking Emmerdale departure, Shaun looks completely different following his casting in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms as Ser Raymun 'The Reluctant' Fossoway.
The actor has been making appearances at premieres and red carpet events for the new HBO series developed by Ira Parker and George R. R. Martin, serving as a prequel to Game of Thrones.
Additional work since departing Emmerdale encompasses Casualty, Four Lives, Ladhood, the highly-acclaimed film How to Have Sex, The Long Shadow, Rocket Fuel and The Choral.
Emmerdale continues on weeknights at 8pm on ITV and ITV X.
