Expedite pending PMCH construction work, divisional commissioner tells officers
Patna: Patna divisional commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar chaired a meeting of the PMCH Rogi Kalyan Samiti on Wednesday, to review hospital operations and ongoing infrastructure work.
Reports presented during the meeting showed that between June 1, 2025, and Jan 25, 2026, PMCH conducted 36,27,477 pathology tests and treated 3,30,953 OPD patients. During the same period, the hospital performed 7,914 major surgeries, 24,331 minor surgeries, and handled 85,493 emergency cases.

Parashar said, “The redevelopment project aims to increase the hospital’s capacity to 5,462 beds.” He directed the project director to expedite pending construction work. To improve access to the hospital, he ordered the removal of encroachments on routes connecting from JP Ganga Path and Makhania Kuan. He also noted that the double-decker flyover connectivity from Ashok Rajpath is scheduled for completion by March this year.
On administrative matters, the commissioner instructed BMSICL ( Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Limited ) to ensure uninterrupted supply of 378 essential medicines. He asked the Patna Municipal Corporation to carry out regular sanitation drives on the campus. The hospital superintendent was directed to conduct a gap analysis of medical staff and equipment to address vacancies in nursing and clinical positions.
The meeting concluded with a directive to implement standard operating procedures for emergency departments and ensure adherence to referral protocols between medical institutions.
