Newspoint
A horrific incident on the Gurugram–Faridabad Road has left a 25-year-old woman fighting for recovery after she was allegedly gang-raped, brutally assaulted and thrown out of a speeding vehicle. The incident took place in the early hours of Tuesday on a winding and sparsely populated stretch of road connecting Gurugram and Faridabad.

The survivor is currently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Faridabad. She is being treated for multiple fractures and deep wounds. While her condition remains serious, doctors have said she is out of immediate danger. Due to her critical state, she has not yet been able to record her statement.

The two accused, one from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Madhya Pradesh, were arrested on Tuesday and produced before a city court on Wednesday. They have been sent to judicial custody as the investigation continues.

Here are the crucial details that have emerged in the case:

Argument with mother

According to police and media reports, the survivor is a mother of three and had been living with her parents following a dispute with her husband. On Monday night, she reportedly had a heated argument with her mother, after which she left the house. She informed her sister that she was going to a friend’s place in Sector 23.

Lift offer, then rape

The woman planned to return home early but got delayed. Around midnight, as she waited for transport near Metro Chowk, public transport was scarce. She accepted a lift offered by two men travelling in a white Eeco van. Instead of taking her home, the accused allegedly drove towards a deserted stretch of the Gurugram–Faridabad Road, where they took turns raping her inside the vehicle.

Police said the assault continued for nearly two to three hours as the van was driven around through the night.

Thrown out of a speeding vehicle

After the assault, the accused allegedly brought the woman back towards Faridabad and pushed her out of the moving van near Raja Chowk between 3 am and 4 am. The vehicle was travelling at a speed of over 90 kmph at the time. A police official said, “While one of them raped her inside the van, the other stood guard outside. After this they brought her back to the city and threw her out of the speeding van.”

Cries for help went unheard

The survivor reportedly cried for help after being thrown onto the road, but her pleas went unheard due to sparse traffic and poor visibility caused by cold and foggy conditions. Bleeding profusely, she managed to call her sister, who rushed to the spot and took her to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital. Given the seriousness of her injuries, she was later shifted to a private hospital in Faridabad.

Doctors said the woman suffered severe injuries, including a fractured right eye socket, a fractured and dislocated shoulder, and deep cuts on her face that required over 20 stitches. Dr Amit Yadav, who is treating her, said, “We are planning surgery for her shoulder fracture and dislocation,” adding that the facial injuries may have been caused when she hit a hard surface after being pushed from the vehicle.

A senior police official, citing doctors, confirmed that she had swelling on her face, a fracture in the eye socket and multiple deep wounds.

Injuries caused while resisting assault

Officials familiar with the investigation said the survivor resisted the assault, which led to a violent attack. “Most of the injuries were caused from physical assault for resisting and from being thrown out of the moving van,” an official said. Faridabad Police PRO Yashpal Yadav added that the woman’s condition remains serious but stable for now.

The two suspects, aged between 25 and 30, were apprehended on Tuesday and formally arrested later. The crime branch has recovered the Eeco van used in the crime, and forensic samples have been collected from the vehicle, the survivor and the accused. Blood samples of the accused have also been taken to determine whether they were intoxicated at the time of the assault.

Police said a test identification parade will be conducted once the survivor is discharged from the hospital. A case of gang rape has been registered at Kotwali police station based on the statement of the survivor’s sister. Investigators believe the accused took advantage of the isolated road and dense fog to carry out the crime, once again raising serious concerns about women’s safety during late-night travel in the region.
