Navi Mumbai: An 86-year-old retired Lieutenant General from New Delhi registered an FIR at Vashi police station against the director of a financial services firm , alleging cheating and criminal breach of trust. The accused allegedly duped him of Rs 2.26 crore, which he accepted as his fees at an office in the Platinum Technopark building in Sector 30, Vashi, for providing a loan of 300 million euros for an international project to set up a cost-effective medical facility in Maharashtra.
An FIR was registered on Tuesday against the accused, Arpeet Khattod, director of Yash Finpro International Pvt Ltd, which had its office in Malad, Mumbai.
The complainant alleged that despite depositing the fees in the bank account of Khattod's firm, he received a fake RWA (ready, willing and able) letter. This document, from a bank, confirms a client has the financial and legal capacity to complete a specific transaction. The fake RWA letter from City Bank of Singapore was in the name of GMD Holding Company Ltd, based in Manila, Philippines, the complainant stated.
According to the complainant, his company, SGL Alpha7 Pvt Ltd, needed a loan of 300 million euros for an international project of a cost-effective medical facility near Kolhapur in Maharashtra. The loan was to be given by Carson Asia Group Ltd. The accused, Khattod of Yash Finpro International, took a fee from the complainant and told him that the person who provided the standby letter of credit (SBLC) of 150 million euros was in Singapore. He sent him a client information sheet in the name of Caytrust Finance Company Ltd. Believing in Khattod's assurances, the complainant entered into an agreement with him on Oct 24 last year, according to which the complainant gradually paid the service provider's fee and GST, amounting to a collective sum of Rs 2,25,60,000, to the bank account of Khattod's firm by RTGS and cheque payment.
