Five civil courts get hoax bomb threats
Patna/Bhagalpur: Five civil courts in Bihar , including those in Samastipur, Bhagalpur, Siwan, Begusarai and Muzaffarpur, received bomb threats via emails on Wednesday, triggering panic.
The threat messages stated that blasts would occur at noon. Following the threats, the court premises were evacuated and security agencies were alerted. The threats were later declared hoaxes.

The emails also described how the blasts would be carried out and mentioned the reason for sending the messages.
Police lodged separate FIRs in their respective districts following the threats.
Bhagalpur court’s principal district and sessions judge, Dharmendra Kumar Singh, received the threat via email. Following this, security agencies were put on alert and security was increased both inside and outside the court premises.
Upon receiving the e-mail, the judge immediately informed the Patna high court about the matter. Senior police and administrative officers of the district were also informed. The judge ordered enhanced security on the court premises.
Bhagalpur SSP, Pramod Kumar Yadav, said an intensive search operation was carried out on the court premises. All courtrooms and surrounding areas were checked by bomb disposal and sniffer dog squads along with police teams. He said an FIR was registered in this regard and investigations were underway to trace the origin of the email.
Advocate and former vice-president of the district bar association, Om Prakash Tiwary, expressed concern over the bomb threats to the courts and demanded that the state govt should form a special investigation team to get to the root of the matter.
The Muzaffarpur civil court also received a bomb threat via email. The court premises were evacuated as a precaution and security arrangements were tightened.
Muzaffarpur SSP Kantesh Kumar Mishra said, “After receiving the threat, the entire court premises were evacuated. Dog and bomb disposal squads searched the entire court campus. A special investigation team (SIT) was formed under the leadership of City SP Mohibullah Ansari to investigate the origin of the threat email and identify those behind it.”
On Jan 8, similar e-mail threats were received to blow up the Patna civil court, Patna City court, Kishanganj civil court, Gaya civil court and Madhubani civil court using RDX.
In Siwan, a threat email was sent to the civil court judge, who informed SP Puran Kumar Jha. Police teams immediately evacuated the court campus.
An advocate of the Siwan court, Kamlesh, said, “The administration stated that the campus was evacuated as a precaution. However, nothing suspicious was found during the checking conducted by the police and dog squads.”
Through public address announcements on the premises, lawyers were instructed to check their respective chambers. All people entering and leaving the court premises were thoroughly checked.
After a bomb threat was received to blow up the Begusarai civil court, the campus was evacuated.
A lawyer, Gopal Kumar, said, “We reached the court at 10.30am. We were informed that an email threat had been received stating that the court would be blown up at 1.45pm. The email originated from Tamil Nadu.”
The Samastipur civil court also received a bomb threat. A police team, led by Sadar ASP Sanjay Kumar Pandey, reached the court to conduct an investigation.
