Fresh land settlement plea can't be made after 6 mths of RoR: HC

Ranchi: Jharkhand high court has observed that any application filed beyond six months after publication of land details in the record of rights (khatiyan) for a fresh settlement is not permissible. The court held that according to the Santhal Pargana Settlement Regulations, entries made in the record of rights attain finality after six months. No fresh settlement can be done without obtaining permission from the govt, the court held. The bench of Justice S K Dwivedi while hearing a petition filed by Kedar Baid observed that interference of the authority in possession of a land of a person whose details are published in the record of rights cannot be disturbed after six months.

The HC on Tuesday directed the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission ’s secretary to consider the application of Seema Lata, a candidate who had appeared for the assistant teachers’ examination, within four weeks. Lata, an SC candidate, had submitted before the court that she scored more marks than the cut-off set for those belonging to the category.
