GB News presenter Martin Daubney halted his show to announce breaking news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. In the middle of a debate, he silenced his panellists to announce the former prince has been released from police custody. "Breaking news, it is reported Prince Andrew, the former Prince Andrew, of course, has been spotted... leaving the police station... in a vehicle."

As the image was broadcast on screen as he continued: "There he is, looking decidedly like he's not having a very good birthday on the day he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on his 66th birthday. This is Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the first photograph of him leaving the police station. Astonishing picture. He's out [of the police station] for now....He's been questioned, presumably released. We don't know the terms of that yet, but what an astonishing picture a former Prince looking like a startled rabbit in the headlines, a commoner," he said.

After briefly discussing it with his panel Daubney cut to the broadcasters Royal Correspondent Cameron Walker for an update.

"You just have to look at this photograph to really take in the magnitude of what has happened here,"Walker said.

"The first senior royal since Charles the First in 1649 that has been arrested, and arrested for a very serious offence indeed.

"...Extraordinary scenes, a historical day...really, the latest scandal, the biggest scandal in the monarchy since the abdication in 1936 as some constitutional experts are putting it...I suspect this story is not going to go away anytime soon."
