Girl, 4, tied, thrashed by retired soldier for plucking guava from his garden
SHIMLA: A four-year-old girl was tied to a staircase and beaten allegedly by a retired army man for plucking a guava from his garden in Bahdala village of Una in Himachal Pradesh.
According to information, on seeing the little girl plucking guavas from his garden, the ex-serviceman in a fit of rage had allegedly tied the girl child to the front staircase of his house and assaulted her.

The girl was rescued by Rohit Jaiswal, a local resident, who was passing by the house of the retired army man and saw the girl crying and screaming for help.
Sensing that something was wrong, Jaiswal entered the house and found the girl tied to the staircase, begging to be freed. Jaiswal immediately called the Child Helpline and police, also recorded a video of the incident.
When Jaiswal intervened, the accused also argued with him. By then a team of local officials had reached the spot and freed the girl.
Later, the retired army man publicly apologized, saying he regretted his act.
According to police officer, a case has been registered against the accused under various sections of the BNS and the Juvenile Justice Act .
