Haryana Police's STF arrested Deepak Nandal gang's sharpshooter Nivesh alias Dilla after encounter
GURGAON: The Special Task Force ( STF ) of Haryana Police arrested a sharpshooter associated with gangster Deepak Nandal following an encounter near Bandhwari village in the early hours of Tuesday.
The accused identified as Nivesh alias Dilla, a resident of Jajal village in Sonipat district, was apprehended in the early hours of April 14 after he allegedly opened fire at a police team attempting to intercept him.

According to STF officials, specific intelligence inputs were received on April 13 indicating that Nandal , who operates his gang from abroad, had tasked Nivesh with carrying out a firing at the office of a Gurgaon-based businessman for extortion. Acting on the tip-off, an STF team laid a blockade near Bandhwari.
“At around 12.50 am, police signalled a motorcycle rider to stop. Instead, the suspect tried to flee and fired multiple rounds at the team. Two bullets struck the bulletproof jackets of STF Sub-Inspector Vivek and Probationary Sub-Inspector Vikas, preventing injuries,” a police officer said.
Police returned fire in self-defence and overpowered the accused, who sustained a bullet injury to his leg during the exchange. He was later admitted to Civil Hospital in Sector 10 for treatment. An illegal pistol was recovered from his possession, police said.
During preliminary questioning, police found that Nivesh was an active member of the Deepak Nandal gang and had been involved in supplying weapons in previous incidents, including a firing case in Karnal. He is also suspected of facilitating weapons in a February firing incident targeting a businessman in Gurgaon, in which shots were fired outside his office on Golf Course Road.
Police said the accused was wanted in connection with an FIR registered on February 26, 2026, at DLF Phase-1 police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
STF officials said further interrogation is underway to gather details about other members of the gang and its network. They reiterated that strict action against organised crime will continue under the state’s zero-tolerance policy.
In the present case, police have booked Nivesh under Sections 109(1) (attempt to murder), 121(1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt to deter a public servant from duty), 132 (assault or use of criminal force against a public servant), and 221 (obstructing a public servant from performing duties) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with provisions of the Arms Act, at DLF Phase-1 police station.
Last year, Nandal and Yadav were named in three FIRs in the city for engineering the firing on rapper Fazilpuria’s car on Southern Peripheral Road on July 14, the contract killing of property dealer Rohit Shokeen on August 4, and the firing at real estate company MNR Buildmark’s office in Sector 45 on September 18.
